Written Expression disorder is the difficulty of putting thoughts and ideas into written form. 

Symptoms include

  • Child is often able to verbalize an answer, tell a story or express himself, however, is unable to put verbalized messages into written form such as text, email, or paper.

  • Child may have difficulty with grammar, punctuation, poor paragraph organization, and spelling errors.  

Treatment methods include:  targeting child specific areas of deficit (grammar, syntax, etc.), providing visual aides such as graphic organizers, sequence charts, story maps, and use of a multi sensory approach.
